'Model industrial estates to be set up in Punjab'
SIALKOT (February 25 2005): Under the directives of Punjab government, the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) is preparing a strategy for developing model small industrial estates at each district head quarter of the Province. The official sources told Business Recorder here on Tuesday that the proposed model industrial estates would be developed under the "Self Finance scheme." The facilitates like metalled roads; sewerage, disposal, water supply while other facilities like electricity, Sui gas, telephone etc would also be ensured with the co-operation of concerned departments in the model industrial estates.
The model small industrial estates would be developed on basis of "No profit no loss". The Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) was making adequate efforts for developing these model industrial estates on the state land wherever available, the sources added.
The step was being taken for the promotion of industrial sector and to accommodate the foreign and Overseas Pakistanis investors in the Punjab.
The Punjab government was making hectic efforts to bring about industrial revolution as well as to further speed up the export activities in the Province.
The purpose of this programme was to establish maximum new industries including agro-based industry aimed at enlarging the employment scope for the educated and skilled jobless persons in the province.
In addition to this as many as 480 industrial plots were available in the small industrial estates of Jehlum, Gujar Khan, Chakwal, Taxila, Daska, Kusur, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Khanewal, Mian Channu and Gujranwala-11 for the allotment to the overseas Pakistanis and foreign investors, who intend to invest in Pakistan, the sources added.
The sources further disclosed that the PSIC has adopted a liberal policy for providing financial assistance and guidance to businesswomen enabling them to flourish business activities as well as to upgrade their workplaces in the province.
