Aga Khan's contribution for socio-economic development is commendable: Sheikh Rashid

ISLAMABAD, Mar 1 (APP): Prince Karim Aga Khan is a true friend of Pakistan and is always supportive of its policies at national and international level for the cause of the country.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sheikh Rashid Ahmad in a statement here Tuesday said, any attempt to tarnish his image in Pakistan is tantamount to hurt the feelings of millions of his followers around the world.
He said, this family has always felt pain for Pakistan and its people.

The investment made by Aga Khan in Pakistan in the fields of health, education and poverty alleviation is undeniable.
Through Aga Khan Development Network and Aga Khan Foundation, a number of projects in various sectors of national economy in Pakistan had been initiated by Aga Khan for the welfare of the people of Pakistan, he added. The Minister said, Aga Khan established micro finance bank, a world class hospital and a chain of hotels throughout Pakistan for generating economic activities and job creation for the welfare of the people.
The family of Sir Sultan Muhammad Shah Aga Khan and his descendants had always come to the help of Pakistan in the hours of need.
Similarly the grand father of Prince Karim Aga Khan, late Sir Sultan Muhammed Shah Aga Khan had also rendered great services for the creation of Pakistan and was one of the lieutenants of founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammed Ali Jinnah, Rashid said.

The Minister said, Prince Karim Aga Khan is also the 49th hereditary Imam of Ismaili Muslims throughout the world including Pakistan with a large number of followers world over.

Prince Karim Aga Khan's contribution to socio- economic development of Pakistan is commendable, he added.
