Now Pakistan has good numbers of CNG stations covering big cities and major highways. More and more private cars are turing to CNG due to expensive petrol cost. What Pakistan lacking is public tranportation and heavy vehicles going on CNG. The government is talking about this change for long and some initiatives are taken for all city transportation going on CNG by 2007. But transport mafia is resisting the change. Government should take firm stand and implement this "All CNG" policy as soon as possible. This will reduce our diesel import bill and our cities will be more cleaner. The government should reduce taxes on CNG fuels/kits and impose yearly tax (environment tax) for cars run on petrol and diesel.

In this case I salute Delhi City initiatives to turn all bus and small vehicles on CNG by court order.

Yes it's indeed a good trend...CNG is cheaper option and we have resources available for it as well...plus government is considereing to use our strategic location as coridoor of oil and gas transportation from midleast and central Asian republicans to India and far east Asia. It would also help to promote CNG consumption in Pakistan.
