Modern Awami Markaz at Gwadar soon

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Ghouri said on Saturday that a modern Awami Markaz would be established at Gwadar to facilitate foreign and local investors.

Addressing a function at Port Qasim on the occasion of handing over of 25 petrol vehicles to Sindh police from Port Qasim Authority (PQA), he expressed the hope that the construction of this Awami Markaz would help generate new investment activities in the largest upcoming port of the country.

He announced that very soon 100 bicycles would be distributed among workers of the port.

He said the donation of 25 vehicles would help in augmenting security levels of Karachi city.

He said that security of two ports were in safe hands but outside the ports police lacked the required infrastructure so that these 25 vehicles are being donated to Sindh police under Karachi Package, announced by President Musharraf.

Rauf Siddiqui, Provincial Home Minister, speaking on the occasion said the economic development of the country was linked with development of Karachi and any disruption in this regard would have serious consequences for national economy.

He said the induction of these new vehicles would help in catching the criminals and restoring the law and order.

Earlier Real Admiral Saleem Meenai, Chairman, welcomed the guests.

Later on Asad Jehangir, IG Sindh Police signed agreement with chairman PQA for taking possession of the vehicles.
