No, North Korea does not deserve to be there. They have a crappy Air Force which is made up of old Soviet and Chinese planes which have not been upgraded, their army is full of crude Soviet and Chinese armor, and their navy is poorly equipped, they have very evry old ships and subs.

I don't know what is more disturbing, that somebody made a list without including Japan (although I guess the nuclear qualifier took them out) or the fact that somebody voted India and Pakistan to be the most powerful in the world. In reality, if objectivity is maintained, there really isn't much to argue about. I don't need to tell objective people which country to vote. Top 3 would be US, China, Russia (nuclear consideration included). And after that, who the hell cares. Argue away all you want for the other 7.

Ukraine and Kazakhstan dont own any nukes. Russia withdrew them all within its own borders. Cant remember exactly but I think ukraine had tried to keep its share, but U.S. and europe raised hell, and made them give up by sweet deals.

Pakistan and Brazil should not be on the list. The Ukraine, Egypt, South Korea, and Turkey have much better militaries. Also, Japan and Germany's militaries are only for self defence, they are not even allowed to attack anyone. Pakistan and Brazil should definetly be in the top 15, but not the top 10.

I think neither Pakistan nor India shud be in their,having a big market,or GDP is no criteria.
There are many countries which are far ahead.
Basically everyone in the G8 is much stronger,considering all 3 of politics,military and economy.India is talked abt bcoz its a story of a 3rd country actually improving and it has a huge GDP bcoz of local market.Pakistan shudnt be ther ebcoz we make some military hardware but we arent doing that well on the other two fronts.I think Turkey or Malaysia shud be in their,if anyone in Islamic world.

They can make something. Don't think they'll last a lot though.... While they do have some local manufacturing capability, they R&D capability is still rudimentary when compared to leading nations. While you can argue that they had a handicap of starting late, and doing it all by themselves, this really isn't about fairness.

well,even though they didnt go to war for 200 years,they still train each one of their men for military in case of war,and they can make their own stuff,their ecmoney is pretty good too

Be Objective in approach
Just because this is a forum in pakistan and most of us here are pakistanis we should not be subjective.
Pakistan and India are way behind in this list of strongest countries. Pakistan and India are sill the Third world. remember.
Even if you guys look at all the countries and judge just purely on military strength Pakistan and India are no where in top ten. It might be that India may come in top 20 or 25 but thats it.
Military includes Army, Airforce and Navy in broader sense but then there is technology. weapons, support, training etc.
Keep all factors in mind and guys remember Europe and USA fought the World Wars and after that involved in the major conflicts of the world like Korea,Vietnam,Falklands,Iraq, Afghanistan not mentioning countless clandestine operations. As far as Pakistan and India are concerned the world only bothers when recently there was a danger of nuclear conflict and THATS IT. The world doesnt bother the least about two Third world armies fighting small scale battles with each other otherwise.

1.USA (they could beat all others combined)
2.Japan (just quality systems in masses)
3.France (Airforce/navy rule)
4.Great Britain (same as france)
5.Germany (only landforce that can mess with the american also in numbers)

I wont go into ratings as i have some changes to suggest in this rating but the most important change is that India should not be in the top ten list. Its way behind that maybe in 25 or even further. Refer to my previous post above. India is just another big Third World Poorly trained army. Numbers count only if India is compared with Pakistan, Bangladesh or Srilanka type of countries but Not in any case with the west.
And by the way most of Europe has compulsory military training so even in the aspect of numerical strength Europe beats even India and Pakistan( while they dont need numerical strength).
Overall i must say that your approach is good but do some research and i hope you will get the right answer.

Well, the bomb sure is nice to have, but a delivery system is pretty nice too. Slapping your (not you, Mr. North Korea himself) one crude nuke to a V2 rocket (oops, did I say that? I meant to say Nodong) and firing it south isn't going to ruin a whole lot of days. It will, however, be a very bad day for the North Koreans.

Am I the only one here who finds the "Nodong" a sadly ironic name for a missile? The missile is a giant phallus and they name it No Dong. Good job, Great Leader.

Exactly! South Korea has almost the same amount of artillery North Korea has and more advanced targeting systems! They would make mince meat out of North Korean artillery batteries and entire divisions. Not only that, but their Navy can blockade North Korea and send a barrage of cruise missiles at P'yongyang. North Korea will have to send something called a fighter plane to drop the Bomb. It would be shot down so easily by CAPs!

I was referring to the delivery system when I said 'missiles'. I didn't speak on the quantity of nuclear weapons, nor do I think anyone except themselves would know how many Nukes they have. The Nodong may not be very capable, but as long as it flies, and is equipped with a nuclear weapon, it can cause enormous damage, short-term and long-term.

As long as one knows that their enemy has a nuke, and a capable delivery system, while they themselves don't, I doubt they would try to cause any mischief in the region. Nukes are made to show power, and threaten others.
A nuke can probably cause more damage then several hundred cruise-missiles.

Their are many types of nuclear weapons. The ones NK has are primitive, almost 60 years old.

Pakistan and India's bombs are also primitive compared to the established nuclear powers. They are all fission bombs. They are all huge.

USA and Russia has hydorgen bombs that are thousands of times more powerful than A-bombs. For example, Pakistan might be able to field a 50 kiloton device. The average US yeild strength is 700 kilotons.

Then there are bombs where its yeild are changable.

Next to hydrogen bombs comes neutron bomb. A bomb that can kill a city without destroying any of its buildings.
