Business & Economy: Hantex keen to invest in textile and banking sectors

LAHORE (UPK) -- The Hantex is interested in making investment in textile and banking sectors in Pakistan, as the country is fast emerging as economic leader in the region. These views were expressed by Monchai Pongstabadee, President Hantex PCL, while talking to LCCI Acting President Khalid Rafique here on Monday.
Monchai Pongstabadee said that being a new member of Asean forum, Pakistan is attractive place for foreign investors, as structural reforms, practical macro economic policies, financial discipline have transformed it into a stable and growing economy. Monchai, who was heading a five-member delegation, said that the Hantex is reviewing the situation to initiate joint ventures with their Pakistani counterparts in the tourism, hotel industry, housing and construction. He also invited the Pakistani businessmen to visit Thailand and avail business opportunities available there.
The delegation also included Somchai Chaisri Chawala, Advisor to Hantex PCL, Rafig, Wajit Tamma, Advisor to Hantex, Kittipat, Financial Advisor, Teerwut, Financial Advisor.
Speaking on the occasion, Khalid Rafique said that the visit of the Thai delegation is of special significance, as Pakistan is entering into a new phase of its development process. He said that exchange of delegations always bring positive results in bilateral economic relations. He said that Pakistan's economy has made significant progress over the last five years. A broad-based economic recovery has already taken place.
The economic indicators in terms of GDP, balance of payments, foreign exchange reserves are much stronger today than ever before. Today our foreign exchange reserves stand at 12.40 billion dollars. We have also witnessed a substantial increase in total foreign private investment, which has touched the figure of 1,170 million dollars. Traditionally, Thailand and Pakistan enjoy steady economic and trade relations with strong commitment to deal collectively with global issues. Both the countries have maintained sustained trade relations, which is evident from the volume of trade between the two countries, he added.
