Telenor opens GSM network in 14 more destinations

ISLAMABAD (December 24 2005): Telenor Pakistan has officially opened its GSM mobile network in 14 more destinations. This new addition has taken Telenor's total score to 174 destinations nation-wide.

Destinations include Hafizabad, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Topi, Hattar, Khewra, Pind Dadan Khan, Karak, Fateh Jang, Hazro, Batgram, Muree Road, PSH-Charsadda Road and Shikarpur.

Welcoming Telenor to Bahawalpur at an inauguration ceremony, District Nazim Bahawalpur Chaudhry Tariq Basheer Cheema appreciated the cellular operator's contribution to healthy competition in the telecom sector and praised Telenor for its quality of services, network and technology, which it had brought to Bahawalpur. District Nazim Lodhran Abdul-Rehman Kanju was also present at the occasion.

Officially launching Telenor's service in Sargodha, Provincial Minister for Colonies Mian Manazir Ali Ranjha lauded Telenor's rapid pace of network expansion and said, "Telenor has been instrumental in encouraging Foreign Direct Investment into the telecom sector, creating much-needed jobs and in developing fierce competition to the benefit of the consumers."

Speaking at the occasion, Telenor Pakistan's Director Communication Syed Hasnat Masood told the audience, "Telenor will offer all its commercial cellular services through a network of Sales and Service Centres, Franchises and several thousand retail outlets on central locations."

In all the said cities, customers will for the first time experience the new feature, easyload, and also be able to enjoy industry firsts such as '2nd minute low price' and international roaming on prepaid. Four new competitive post-paid packages including zero line rent and F&F/ CUG features with very low prices will also be available, All these services have received great response from customers since their recent launch.

Talking about Telenor Pakistan's coverage, Regional Director Malik Faisal Qayyum stated, "Telenor today has the fastest growing network in the industry, including the recently launched Motorway-M2, Narowal, Pasrur, Zafarwal, Gojra, Chichawatni, Toba Tek Singh, Dera Ismail Khan, Chakwal, Shabqadar, Chakwal Link Road, Jhang-FSD Road and PSH-Kohat."

Thats why so many problems came for the earthquake hit areas when phones lines cut off but no cell phone services were available for them....
Now a step has been taken in this regard aswell..hope they'll make their way to extreme north of the country also............
