PM approves plans for Media Tower in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD, Feb 25 (APP): Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Saturday approved in principle plans for construction of a 26-storey Media Tower in the federal capital providing modern IT and telecom facilities.
The Prime Minister at a meeting at the PM house said the government believed in an open media policy and a free press in the country.
He said the plan will be submitted at the next Central Development Working Party (CDWP) meeting for formal approval.
The Prime Minister said the tower will create an environment which would promote media as an industry and contribute in forming a better global image of the country.
Secretary Information Shahid Rafi in his presentation said the Media Tower will be located in Blue Area, Islamabad and will be completed in 36 months.
The building will have all facilities required by the media, IT and Telecom companies which can set up their businesses in a cost effective manner.
Secretary Information said the Media Tower will have TV and radio studios, technical areas, auditoriums, conference halls, seminar rooms, corporate offices, government offices, business centres, IT centre, cafeteria, call centers, hospitality areas, warehouse, commercial and retail spaces.
The meeting was also attended by senior officials of ministry of Information, PM Secretariat and NESPAK.
