Pakistan is Iran’s main rival in the production and export of hand-woven carpets, according to an expert in exports.

Pakistan’s share of world exports of hand-woven carpets was between 10 and 13 percent some years ago but has risen to 24.5 percent in recent years and is still increasing, Hamid-Reza Ansari said in Karaj on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Iran’s share has not changed in years and is still 30 percent, he added.

The production and export of hand-woven carpets is improving and growing in Pakistan, whereas Iran, with thousands of years of expertise in the field, is lagging behind others now, he lamented.

After Pakistan, India captured a 24 percent share of world exports of hand-woven carpets, followed by Nepal at 10.7 percent, China at 10 percent, and Turkey at 10.7 percent.

Ansari maintained that holding negotiations with the world’s major importers of hand-woven carpets would be the best way to boost Iran’s exports of the product.

lets hope Pakistan's share can increase to 50%! it means jobs !

Any field:
If it's Iran Vs. The West, I'm all for Iran.
If it's Iran Vs. Another Muslim Country, I'm again all for Iran (they stood up to the West & Israel), I respect them.
If it's Iran Vs. Pakistan, they can go jump in the lake, simple, I love Pakistan (and I'm not a reasonable man then).

Pakistanis should adopt the approach of americans

They brought into their country the best hands and the best minds by giving them with handsome salaries and benefits like citizenship , social securities etc.

we should also invite competent iranian workers by giving them handsome salary packages and they should teach their trade secrets to Pakistanis and should also be encouraged to start their business in Pakistan.

I agree. As a matter of fact alot of Pakistan's industry received its boost from the Afghan refugees who established this business further.

I thought that the Central Asian countries might be the biggest competitors to Iran, when it comes to carpet-making? They sure can produce some high-quality carpets, and I heard that Turkmenistan is the best in this field.
