Dancom offering WiMAX in Pakistan

First WiMAX network in Pakistan

Here in Pakistan, the word ‘WiMAX’ is in the air since last year. However, the largest WiMAX deployment which was claimed by Wateen Telecom is still unseen. Dancom Online Services, a subsidiary of Dancom Malaysia is offering WiMAX service in Karachi, the commercial hub of Pakistan. Dancom is a major telecom company in Pakistan with its reach in over 150 cities, 74 offices nationwide and more than 5,000 employees with its Head office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The WiMAX solution used in this network is provided by Redline Communications. Dancom claims to be the first in Pakistan to deploy a WiMAX network. In the future, they plan to have a multi-city enterprise network based on WiMAX. This broadband wireless service is currently targeted more towards corporate clients.
