ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will achieve self-sufficiency in production of pulses, Secretary MINFAL Ismail Qureshi here said.
Expected production in Kharif crops has provided the country sufficient quantity of pulses, talking to Geo News, Qureshi said.
The government will maintain a buffer stock of 200,000 tonnes of gram to stabilise the local market.
The Ministry is expecting a bumper crop of the gram with production of 846,000 tonnes against the set target of 706,000 tonnes, which showed an increase of nearly 20 per cent. This production is nearly 76 per cent more when compared with the last year’s production of 479,000 tonnes.
