In talks with Pakistani minister of oil and natural resources, Iranian envoy has said Pakistan is a key market for Iran's energy export.
At a meeting with Pakistani Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Amanullah Khan Jadoon, Iranian ambassador to Pakistan Masha-allah Shakeri highlighted Iran's programs for exporting gas, oil derivates and electricity to Pakistan. Iran is “serious” in dealing with the plans, the envoy insisted.
Shakeri said that Iran is resolved to implement the gas pipeline project of which 20 percent has been completed so far.
The Iranian diplomat pointed to the abundant lead and zinc resources in Pakistan, saying Iran is ready to invest in Pakistan's mine industry.
An Iranian delegation is due in Pakistan to discuss the details of the issue.
In a joint venture, Iran and Pakistan plan to build a large refinery in south Pakistan. The minister said that Islamabad is prepared to extend its all-out cooperation in this regard.

A relationship with Iran will help in many economic fields, this is good. We will get electricity through the natural gas, if Iran invests in our mining sector, that will increase the jobs and growth there (also convince others to invest); and we will get a lot of revenue from refineries. As I have been saying for some time now, we should import Iranian oil, refine it and sell it back; the Iranians already have to do this (they have to import refined) so this will become cheaper for them; we can also underhand (off the record) get Chinese equipment to Iran to help increase their production (which is less then half what it was 30 years ago, but shouldn't be, this decrease is due to old equipment).
