Pakistan honoured through Mobilink at World Communications Award-2007
ISLAMABAD, Oct 10 (APP): Mobilink has brought honour for Pakistan for being the only South Asian cellular company to be represented at the World Communications Award (WCA) 2007.
Being country’s market leader in cellular communication with a growing base of over 27 million customers, Mobilink has been nominated for “The Best Operator in a Developing Market” category in the WCA 2007.
The prestigious awards will be announced at the grand gala dinner on November 28 in London.
The growth and progress made in Pakistan in the telecommunication sector is one of the key reasons why the international focus is on fast-moving economies of the developing world.
Mobilink is a forerunner in the cellular industry of Pakistan, and thus was the obvious choice for the coveted nomination. In his comments on the nomination, CEO Zouhair A. Khaliq said Mobilink is happy over the nomination.
“Our contribution to the development of Pakistan’s economic turnaround and the reshaping of lives of our people has so far been the cornerstone of our achievement,” he added.
It is mentioned here that the World Communication Awards recognize companies and individuals responsible for the innovations, achievements and new services that are helping to build tomorrow’s industry.
Mobilink provides the most extensive network coverage footprint across Pakistan through an integrated technology infrastructure in more than 5,000 cities, towns, villages, and countless remote destinations, including International Roaming in 127 countries through 300 partner operators.
The company is the official cellular service of the Pakistan Cricket Board and is the only corporate in Pakistan to issue a ‘high-yield’ bond worth US$ 250 million in the international market.
