What do you think. I think yes, since holding polls 2 weeks after her death could lead to disaster. For example could lead to a nationalist victory in Sindh and an insurgency there as well. Then you have three provinces in insurgency. Like the stupid decision to hold polls after the cyclone in E Pak, lead to an AL sweep.

If the elections are delayed or canceled the blame will fall on the government for what just happened, mark my word. They should continue, the Election Commission should tell the PPP to get it together and continue with the election.

First the situation in the tribal areas needs to be normalized properly. All radical elements that oppose the rule of law need to get rid. A full and quick consensus is needed from all parties. Also US interference needs to be as minimal as possible. After that I think the elections should really go ahead without any delay whatsoever. In the meanwhile, all parties can regroup.

Well it matters what you call a delay. If elections are still held in January then yes that might happen (they may be delayed a week or two), but there is no chance that they will be delayed beyond a month (that would be stupidity on the government's part). Lets hope the country takes this opportunity to unite and crush the militant scum.

yes they shud be cancelled due to the worsening security situation..
if they are conducted at the proposed time, the turnover will be very less..people are not safe..and any gathering is a mouthwatering target for those scums. so no ones gonna risk standing in long qeues..moreover govt cant provide sufficient security at polling stations..
Also PP has suffered a major blow..there guys will feel heart broken seeing the polls going ahead and some voilent elements in PP may attack the stations.
So Security is the major concern for me.

On the other hand, if PPP is able to appoint some good leader such as Aitzaz they could very well win by a land slide. The sympathy of the people will be very much with PPP and especially Aitzaz who is considered to be transparent.

That would be interesting. Personally I don't mind PPP getting in power (as compared to other political groups in Pakistan) because of the fact that they are more secular.

The party being secular isn't my main concern. What Pakistan needs is honest leadership that isn't corrupt and acts in the interest of the country. This will be a wasted opportunity... So many sacrifices Pakistan has had to make in the last few years...

Delay the elections under the condition that all contending parties hold inner-party elections and propose public manifestos regarding socio-economic development, domestic and foreign policy as well as rule of law (not just "we support rule of law", but rather a detailed plan/sketch). Give them a month to elect their leaders, another month to produce a manifesto and a month for people to analyze the manifestos - and then vote. So a 3 month delay with the above I think would be good.

Yes, but be realistic. We are in Pakistan, there isn't a single party or leadership that has no corruption or is solely there for the betterment of the country. Thus we have to pick greater of two evils (the less evil) and I would prefer a secular party over a mullah party any day.

Elections must be held, but should be delayed for a week of two.
This should be time given to the PPP to get it's act together.

I'd rather walk blind through the countryside, then have to walk across a highway with sight. (That would be philosophical, aka bullsh!t, answer.)
Yes, at least in declared war we know who our enemy is (that would be my better answer).
