Full Version: Microsoft Chief, Bill Gates To Visit Pakistan

Microsoft chief Bill Gates has assured that he would visit Pakistan soon. “I have heard and read a lot about Pakistan and I am keen to be there at an early opportunity,” he said in a chat with an English daily. He was in Davos for the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting. Responding to a question, Gates said he had received an invitation from Pakistani leaders and he has already accepted it. As soon the schedule is finalised, he would undertake the trip. Gates said that the developing countries should devote their attention to education, alleviation of poverty and eradication of diseases. This could greatly help them to keep pace with the developed world. “Conflicts and clashes have harmed humanity, while harmony and respect for one another is the way to achieve success and make progress,” he said. Gates said Pakistan is among those countries which are emerging on the information technology map rapidly and it will have its due place in this world soon. Terming the ongoing reform process and development which Pakistan is making “remarkable,” he said, it would certainly pave the way for Pakistan to reach a place in the world that has been visualised by its leaders.

Gates hoped Pakistan would get it rightful position in the world of IT but it must not overlook its basic strength of agriculture and manpower. By applying modern technology in agriculture, Pakistan can bring about a revolution in its agro-economy. It must give due attention equally to industrialisation and agriculture growth.

Invitation from leaders? Pakistan emerging in IT-technology? Wow, impressive words from a welknown and recognised businessman! (Lets not forget Microsoft's investments in India)

If Microsoft will make some fundings, then other Microsoft-competetors will follow his footsteps because it's survival of the fittest as, many people know how B.Gates gets money out of investments.

If it's not enough, he is giving Pakistan advice on where to focus it's domestic market; agriculture growth, this will defintely open eyes for more international investments!

GoP is going to use and exploit this man's knowlegde on business strategies, Inshallah!

But why is he intrested in Pakistan when Microsoft already has so many investment projects in India..? Any politically purposes, anyone?

Edited: I take back my words after reading your second post TheIce and thanks for informing the date.

I have just notice article published on February 3rd, 2007. Gates have yet visited to Pakistan? Also Gates have retired from Microsoft yesterday.

His comment on developing the agricultural part of the economy first is so true.

Get off your high horse, he had said it every time a Pakistani journalist asks him that. He has no interest in Pakistan, Pakistanis have no interest in Pakistan. how would he come to a country where people go of to burn their own country (You can tell I was and still am in shock to read there were 290 Bank branches burned in the aftermath of Benazir), and many more factories with workers inside. You think Bill Gates will bring business here. I dont about you people but i have given up any hope.

you really have a lot of trust on GOP,

I'm not going to get off my high horse because I wrote, 'Edited: I take back my words after reading your second post TheIce and thanks for informing the date.'- after TheIce stated in his post no. 2 that date was from 23rd feb 2007.

Why should Gates come to Pakistan when he Microsoft has so many investments in India? He isn't going to come, I know that.

Now I second your post and you are absolutely right xyxmt regarding the aftermath of BB.

I have trust in GOP only because they're holding the West on a checkmate from not letting Pakistan being bombed under the influence of the zionists and anti-Muslim elements! And yes, every politician is corrupt and nepotism-minded, in my point of view and I hate every single of their egoistic approach.

If you give up hope for Pakistan by means letting down the dream of Iqbal and struggle of Jinnah, then be it so.
Because my hope is for Pakistan and for it's people: the innocents, poor and expolited by the higher-castes, highclass-elite, politicians, fraud-minded, oppressors, suppressors and condemned people, since I'm sure the upcoming generations will learn not to repeat the same type of errors and today Pakistan's politicians are being critized by the mass-media and the people, even the govt is under this cease fire.

Even I could, seen from a typical Pakistani political approach, say I have several family members serving Pakistan's people and it's govt and being subjective, but where is my responsibility of being objective and critical?? This is what Pakistan lacks of, objectivity and being just to everyone!

If it's hope you really have given up then fine, don't focus on the elder generation but it's newer and younger generation, there is stille time for a change, and you can be part of it or start by changing the typical mindset of Pakistanis.

If you are an oversea citizen then try to focus on the younger generation and teach them to be objective and just, you will see a lot of difference.

Peace

This is a very good oppurtunity for both Pakistan and microsoft. Pakistani market is huge and wide open for microsoft there is alot of bucks to be made in this market. We made the first computer virus, we have world's two youngest MCPs. Talent + market.

Now dollar is stronger aginst Pakistani rupee compared to Indian rupee so microsoft is likely to generate more profit from Pakistan if it decides to outsource to Pakistan.

Secondly, the market, Pakistanis are more richer comapred to 10 years ago, they have developed the taste of technology they are more willing and able to buy microsoft products .... so it is a win win situation for both ....

You said "I have given up hope", that doesn't describe Pakistan, that describes you and your personality (of giving up hope so easily).

Hey, no need to get that touchy. If you find something wrong with my posts, report them.
