Pak-Saudi joint Naval exercise “Naseem al Bahr” commences toady

KARACHI, Jan 22 (APP): Seven Royal Saudi Naval Forces ships have reached Karachi to participate in the joint exercise ‘Naseem al Bahr’ with Pakistan Navy commencing from January 22.This was announced in a press release of ISPR (Navy) issued here on Tuesday.

It said that the current exercise, ninth in the series of Naseem al Bahr exercise, will involve participation of state of the art sea and air platforms besides special forces.

The opening brief of the exercise was held at Pakistan Navy Tactical School here Tuesday.

Chief of Staff and Acting CNS Vice Admiral Asaf Humayun was the chief guest on the session.

On the occasion, Commander Pakistan Fleet Vice Admiral Noman Bashir said that in the post 9/11 scenario, there has been a paradigm shift in the security calculus of the region.

The asymmetric threat in the shape of trans-national terrorist networks poses a significant challenge for all the littoral states.

In quest for vital energy resources, the Gulf region and Arabian Sea are under major focus of key world powers.

He also stressed upon the need for bilateral and multilateral operations to develop and enhance better interoperability between the naval forces striving together for achievement of regional maritime security.

Highlighting salient features of the exercise, Commander Pakistan Fleet said that during Naseem al Bhar-XI the units will be actively involved in exercise under multi threat environments along with host of other operations related to counter terrorism, convoy protection, anti-air, anti-submarine, mine counter measure and intelligence based operations.

He also said both Pakistan and Royal Saudi Navies have come a long way and continue to maintain frequent interaction al all levels through joint seminars, sea exercise, officers’ exchange programs and training.

its been happening for several years for now. i don't know exactly what platforms will participate but i can identify two mine sweepers in the picture while the third ship with the helicopter seems to be a frigate.

Do we know anything about the Saudi Navy--i mean what class of ships they use, submarines, bla, bal, etc??

Pakistan-Saudi naval exercise begins

KARACHI, Nov 28: North Arabian Sea will become venue of a joint Pakistan-Saudi naval exercise, Naseem Al Bahr-VIII, for which a task group of Seven Royal Saudi Naval Forces Ships arrived on Monday morning at the Karachi Port. The exercise to be conducted from Nov 28 will continue till Dec 15 in various phases.

Commander Task Force Rear Admiral Sammi bin Mansoor Al Rafi is leading the royal contingent.

The aim of this exercise is to enhance level of interoperability between the two navies.

A large number of royal force and Pakistan Navy units, including most modern destroyers, frigates, missile corvettes, tankers, mine hunters, aviation personnel, special services group will participate in multi-dimensional activities.

The opening brief of Naseem Al Bahr-VIII was held at the Pakistan Navy Tactical School, PN dockyard.—APP

KARACHI: Seven ships of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces have reached Karachi to participate in the joint exercise Naseem al-Bahr with Pakistan Navy commencing from January 22, stated a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR)’s navy wing on Tuesday.

It said that the current exercise was ninth in the series of Naseem al-Bahr exercises. “It will involve state of the art sea and air platforms, in addition to special forces,” the statement said.

The opening brief of the exercise was held at Pakistan Navy Tactical School here on Tuesday. Chief of Staff Vice Admiral Asaf Humayun, who is also the acting chief of naval staff, was the chief guest on the occasion. Pakistan Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Noman Bashir said that in the post 9/11 scenario there had been a paradigm shift in the security calculus of the region.
