Another batch of missile (this time Ghaznavi) got delivered to PA. Seems like PA means strictly business and the prodcution of missiles of all kinds is in full swing.

Congrats to all !!

Note: Everytime a batch is delivered. Pakistan Army picks one at random and test fires it to certify the rest as part of a quality control measure.

Pakistan tests short-range ballistic missile

Pakistan on Wednesday conducted a successful test fire of Ghaznavi (Hatf III) short-range ballistic missile, the military said in a statement.

The Ghaznavi missile has a range of 290 km, according to the statement.

The field launch exercise was witnessed by Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro, Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq ParvezKayani, senior military officers and scientists, said the statement.

Addressing troops in the exercise area, Soomro congratulated them on achieving excellent training standards of professional readiness.

He said Pakistan was proud of its strategic forces and scientific organizations for having developed and operationalized a strong nuclear deterrence capability.

Soomro reiterated that Pakistan stood for peace in the region. "Peace comes from strength whereas weakness invites aggression," he said. "The Pakistani government is fully committed to retain a strong conventional and unconventional deterrence and will meet all the needs of a strong national defense."

Pakistan tests nuclear-capable missile: army

Pakistani troops fired a short-range nuclear-capable ballistic missile during exercises on Wednesday in the third such training launch in as many weeks, the army said. Soldiers from the country’s strategic force command carried out a “successful” launch of the Hatf III (Ghaznavi) missile, which has a range of 290 kilometres (180 miles), an army statement said.

The launch was witnessed by caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro and army chief Ashfaq Kayani, the statement added, saying that more details would be announced later.

Pakistan and India have routinely conducted missile tests since the nuclear-armed South Asian neighbours carried out tit-for-tat atomic detonations in May 1998.

However in 2004 they launched a slow-moving peace process aimed at ending six decades of hostility and resolving their dispute over the Himalayan territory of Kashmir, the cause of two of their three wars.

In February 2007 Pakistan and India signed a deal to cut the risk of atomic weapons accidents.

The two countries have an agreement to notify each other about tests of ballistic missiles but not cruise missiles.

Pakistan tests another nuclear-capable missile

Pakistan successfully test fired a short-range nuclear-capable missile on Wednesday as part of its efforts to boost its defence capabilities, the military said.

Pakistan also tested long and medium range ballistic missiles in the past month.

Prime Minister Mohammadmian Soomro watched the test firing of the Ghaznavi (Hatf III) ballistic missile, which can travel up to 300 km (185 miles), at an undisclosed location.

Soomro, whose caretaker premiership will come to an end after an election set for Feb. 18, said Pakistan stood for peace but could not overlook its defence needs.

"Peace comes from strength whereas weakness invites aggression," a military statement quoted him as saying.

Pakistan carried out nuclear tests in May 1998, days after its old rival India conducted tests.

The two South Asian neighbours, which have fought three wars since their independence from British rule 60 years ago, regularly carry out missile tests despite a peace process they launched in early 2004.

Pakistan has successfully test fired a short range missile capable of carrying a nuclear device.

Pakistan's military said its troops fired the nuclear-capable ballistic missile during exercises on Wednesday in the third such training launch in as many weeks.

The army's Strategic Missile Group launched the Ghazanvi (Hatf III) missile, which has a range of 290km, from an undisclosed location, a military statement said.

Pakistan tests missile capable of carrying nuke

Pakistan's military said Wednesday it has successfully test-fired a short-range missile capable of carrying a nuclear device.

The army's Strategic Missile Group launched the Ghazanvi missile, which has a range of 180 miles, from an undisclosed location, a military statement said.

Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro, top army officials and scientists witnessed the test, it said.

With the launch, the army's Strategic Force Command "concluded its highly successful winter collective training," the statement said.

Pakistan became a declared nuclear power in 1998 by conducting nuclear tests in response to those carried out by neighboring India and test-firing its first missile the same year.

Since then, the two countries have routinely tested their missiles, and Wednesday's launch by Pakistan was the third in recent weeks.

Soomro said Wednesday that Pakistan seeks peace in the region, but "peace comes from strength" and "weakness invites aggression."

Pakistan is "fully committed to retain a strong conventional and unconventional deterrence and will meet all the needs of a strong national defense," the military statement quoted him as saying.

Pakistan and India have a history of bitter relations and have fought three wars since both gained independence from Britain in 1947.

However, relations have improved markedly since 2004, when the two countries began a peace process to resolve outstanding disputes, including competing claims to the divided Himalayan region of Kashmir.

Pakistan successfully test-fires ballistic missile

Pakistan Wednesday successfully test-fired a short-range surface-to-surface ballistic missile, the third test in two weeks.
The Hatf-III Ghaznavi missile is capable of carrying nuclear and other types of warheads accurately up to a range of 290 kilometers, said a military statement.
This was the third missile test Pakistan has conducted Since January 24th. Earlier, Pakistan test fired Hatf-IV and Hataf-V ballistic missiles.
Ghaznavi missiles have already been inducted in the Army's Strategic Command.

I was wondering, wudnt it be nice, if we just test a longish ranged missile than shaheen..like something in excess of 3000Kms!!

It will have good strategic results! The sort of BS going on in america in their election campaigns will see a major shift, and they wud be careful in talking about 'an action on pakistani soil'..
For the Glory of Pakistan.
Congrats to all.

It seems to be that some thing is cooking. wacko.gif wacko.gif

I don't get one thing ... how is it possible to tell the missile that was tested had only 250 K-M range ? ... I mean if say we test a very long range of missile 3000 Km + how can other country know the range of the missile that has been test fired ?
azad
Why we are testing same range of missile again n again?
Caesar
Can anyone provide with a summary of which missiles Pakistan tested in the last 6-months??
For the Glory of Pakistan.
^^Shaheen, Ghuree, Raad, Babur and Ghaznavee.

If i have missed any feel free to add.

Well other than the design of the missile (number of stages, etc.), I don't think you can...
hassan
how they calculte range?what if we add big range rockets+fuel and range will be extended and all systems will be same [almost] right!?
sobank
Dude its not breaking news. Its the usual batch test.

I still don't get this testing of the same missile every second week?? What is it achieving?

some of these tests were checking and confirming the new parameters..the modifications...and may be the bug removing..

and others were that of during field excercises..the army was conducting regular excercises and there the missiles were fired, as all other weapons were also tested but testing a gun duznt make a news..however, it wasnt a breaking news...it was jus a live firing test.
hassan
as its short range missile if army want to launch nuclear strike.what type/weight on Nuclear device they will use?

Well, if you want a very basic calculation, you need to review your high-school or early university projectile motion courses. Beyond that, you can see the following link to get to know what model rocketeers do.

As far as all systems having the same technical base, this is incorrect. You cannot just add a bigger fuel tank and expect the missile to go farther. Rocket technology does not scale up linearly in such an easy way.

Cant they run tests in a simulator or something?
