Nice, they've adopted a bowline also seen on the 054. Makes her look cleaner, tougher and more aggressive than her chinese cousins, the Jiangwei II.

Though I can't help also seeing reseblance to the F-25T (Naresuan class, Thai Navy)
Londo Molari
penguin, looking at the pictures of the F-22P, what radar is that? Is it the same one as on the Jiangwei II? If so, what is its range, specs, etc...
Mark Sien
Yeah, Londo's new pic is definitely cute.

Regarding F-22P, the real thing definitely is eye candy...although I wish they stuck to the first concept in 2004 that looked stealthier IMO.

According to pshamim, the PN is after 6 OHPs and is seeking to equip them with Mk.41 & ESSM. I think it would considerably boost F-22P's self-defence capabilities if they replaced FM90 with SeaRAM. The 6 OHPs and 4 F-22Ps would serve as stopgaps in PN until the Future-FFG & MILGEM are commissioned later on...so I reckon it'll be a while before the new ships arrive.

Would be great if we can develop our own equivalent of Brahmos - i.e. a supersonic SLCM & ALCM capable of AShW - for Agosta-90B & future naval-fighters. Imagine using Orion-Cs and Hawkeye-2000s to search and target - then a naval JF-17 & Agosta-90B closing in to take out the target from ranges of beyond 300km.

Bloody hell...is it true that F25T is armed with 2 triple torpedo tubes and Mk.41 VLS!?

This would be a waste of time. A better solution would be to aquire the C-803 (YJ-83) AShM. It is the supersonic 250km (155mi) range development on the C-80* Family. Its also a sea skimmer whereas the Brahmos isnt if I remember correctly. Aquiring this missile with its technology would be far more effective than reinventing the wheel.

QUOTE
The Peoples Republic of China recently startled the West when a JH-7 (“Flying Panther”) aircraft (Xian Aircraft Industry Company) fired a YJ-83 anti-ship cruise missile over Bohai Bay, demonstrating twice the range of which the weapon had been believed capable. This weapon is widely believed to be part of Beijing's efforts to develop a long-range strike capability against the US Navy and the Republic of China (Taiwan) Navy.

According to sinodefense.com, the YJ-83 flies within 15 feet of the water’s surface. It is equipped with a 365-pound warhead and a monopulse terminal guidance radar possessing high anti-jamming capabilities. It uses a semi-armor-piercing anti-personnel blast warhead, which relies on the missile's kinetic energy to pierce the deck of a ship, penetrate into and explode in the ship's interior.

Defense specialists say the YJ-83, sometimes called the C-803, also has the capability to receive target information in flight. Richard Fisher of the Jamestown Foundation was quoted as saying that the YJ-83 will probably be outfitted on the upgraded JH-7a fighter-bomber. A 155-mile range would put the launching aircraft outside of the range of Standard SM-2 missile that will be mounted aboard the ex-Kidd-class destroyers recently bought by Taiwan.

Yeah...her grocery store uniform didn't suggest that she was a gangsta hip-hop chick...I don't want to be involved in hoods, west sides and other urban filth.

tank,

I agree, although we should procure a system - whether based on C-803 or not - that has a range beyond 300km and can travel at supersonic speeds.

Type 360 / S (based on an Italian radar). Details can be found in "A Brief History of Chinese Naval Radar and EW Developments" by Koxinga (page 15). But for the IFF at the top it is the same as on Type 053H3 (Jiangwei II)

It has 2x 3 TR-ASW. It is fitted for but not with a single 8 cell Mk41 VLS (area between main gun and bridge).

That is pretty cool...meaning sometime in the future KSEW could theoretically design and produce a contemporary FFG based on F-22P & MILGEM?

Don't see no reason why it could not.

Based on tphuang's latest entry, it seems the C-802's newest version has a range of 200km, not 120 W00T.GIF

I said minimum 200 km, according to the Bangladesh navy, it's 140 nm, which is over 250 km. But then again, the issue is not the range, but whether or not PN has the asset to do OTH targeting.

This frigate is a very capable but relatively small at 2,250 tons ship. It is multimission-capable, "armed with sub-sonic anti-ship missiles (C802), a short-range anti-aircraft missile system, a single 76mm gun, anti-submarine torpedoes," and able to embark the Z-9 helicopter.
The frigate will join six Amazon-class frigates built in Britain in the early 1970s, which Pakistan acquired in the early 1990s. Pakistan has no destroyers and a small number of Karachi-built Jalalat-class guided-missile patrol crafts, armed with Chinese-made C-801 (Sardine) anti-ship missiles; and three ex-Chinese Huangfeng class (Chinese Project 21) missile boats, armed with C-201 anti-ship missiles.

Guys in GEO probably have a thing for Nawaz's fairer and softer skin...
Londo Molari
She got married to me.

Nawaz attended the wedding... he has even softer skin than her! My lovely alloo-faced leader.

But he ate all the food :(

So anyway, I asked her to quit. I don't want to share her with the world

Didn't it say the target was 140nm from the coast? That doesn't mean the missile was fired from the coast... it could have been fired from a ship much closer to the target?

guys we need far more destroyers, frigates and subs than what we have...

10 destroyers
10 frigates
10 subs will be a good detterent.

ideally 18 destroyers with 10 to 18 frigates and 10 to 15 subs will be a killer force...

The long term plan for PN, i.e. over the next 20 years...as per sources like waz & rafi includes:
  • 12 corvettes - MILGEM
  • 8 frigates in 3000+ ton range - possibly TF-100 as its based off MILGEM.
  • 4 air defence frigates/destroyers
  • 12 submarines - possibly U214?
