KARACHI: Federal Commerce Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has assured the Pakistan Apparel Forum (PAF) that the government will establish an Apparel Board in his ministry soon.

The proposal for forming an Apparel Board in the commerce ministry was floated by a delegation of PAF in Islamabad, led by M Naqi Bari, Chairman PAF.

Abbasi agreed to the proposal, in a meeting with the delegation the other day, said a PAF handout issued on Friday.

The formation of the board would help in resolving the problems of the apparel industry swiftly, said the delegates.

The Minister also assured the delegation of providing a level playing field to their industry, and stressed upon them to prepare a comparative study in respect of India and Bangladesh. The study would help the industry compete in the international markets, Abbasi added. He hoped that the study would increase the exports of apparel.
