Rs five million allocated for renovation of Nawaz Sharif Park
ISLAMABAD (April 20 2008): The Rawal Town administration will soon start renovation and beautification of Nawaz Sharif Park for which an amount of Rs 5 million has been allocated. Spokesman of Rawal Town, Tahir Khan told APP that renovation process was delayed for almost four months in pursuance of order of Election Commission not to release any development funds for any project.
He said that tender in this connection would be floated in next few days. The renovation work include construction and repairing of footpaths, jogging tracks, installation of fancy lights, sheds and benches, plantation of trees and provision of water drinking facility for the visitors.
The park is the only recreational site for the residents of Shamsabad, Sadiqabad, Double Road and other adjacent areas and the renovation work will provide healthy environment to the visitors. The spokesman said further that the town administration was taking steps to give more recreational facilities in play land, adding that swings for the play land has already been purchased.
Moreover, cafeteria will also be built to provide better refreshment to the visitors besides the construction of ten latrines, he added. "Rawal Town administration has finished beautification work at Commercial Market Park, Millat Colony Park, Sarajia Masjid Park, Aqsa Park, Murree Road Park, Chachi Mohalla Park with its own resources. Upgradation and overhauling work being carried out at different parks of Khyaban Sir Sayed and Satellite Town will be completed soon", he stated.
Khan said that the administration had deployed four security guards and also requested the police to increase patrolling in the evenings for the safety of visitors.
