Thanks to cabatli_53 on WAFF for providing and translating a SSM document.

Studies being carried on potential Turkish-Pakistani cooperation on sea-platforms (corvettes & frigates?)

Possibility on joint cooperation in naval technology (torpedoes?) and submarines (future SSK?)

MoU signed on IHA - what is that?

Well with cooperation with Chinese already in place, our experiences with Turkey will give Pakistan pretty rich and diverse experience in ship building. More over we got to improve our skills in private ship building, that is from where we can draw our strength.

Found out that IHA stands for UAV in Turkish...this is probably in note of the Tiha MoU AWC signed with its Turkish counterparts.

Mark! Need more details on this UAV...Any thing you find worth posting here??

The submarine also sounds interesting...can we expect jointly developed upgrades for Turkey's U209s and Pakistan's Agosta-70/90s? Or is this submarine cooperation on the future AIP SSKs both countries have requirements for?

My guess would be future cooperation on the customization on their future SSKs project. Its seems that the U-214 is favored by both Pakistan and Turkey. Pakistan will likely sign a contract for 3 German subs during expo 2008 and Turkey should follow suit soon after.

Possibly, I am hoping for joint Turkish-Pakistani cooperating on customizing the U214; besides the expected variant of GENESIS and possible Turkish fuel-cell technology, we can also expect SLCM capability on the submarines. I'm also hoping for locally produced AShM and both heavy & lightweight ASW torpedoes to be used on the submarines. Perhaps after 2020 we can jointly develop a larger 2500-3000 ton SSK?

I agree about the SLCM not sure about Turkish fuel-cell technology. German fuel-cell technology is top of the line. Regarding the larger SSK being Jointly develop after 2020, i think that will be the natural progression from this collaboration.

Are there plans for weaponized variants of TIHA? Or what of a turbojet or turbofan powered variant?
Bilal
Mark,
Someone (very reliable) told me that initial study for weaponization of UAVs has been started in Pakistan (NESCOM to be specific)

You mean NESCOM is working on weaponizing the TIHA?

There is a possibility that Pakistan is also involved in the South African Bateleur UAV as the "undisclosed partner". I am sure that weaponized UAVs similar to Predator are being developed to help support our forces on the border. Honestly I cannot wait for the day we roll out a stealthy UCAV similar to EADS Barracuda or Dassault nEUROn.
Bilal
Its a concept study, didn't say anything concrete about any system in particular.

I thought the first TIHA was supposed to enter tests around 2011?
gcobra
First flight was supposed to be mid 2008 but now will be beginning of 2009 that's new schedule

this is first shape

and this is the last version so structure changed little bit
that could be the reason of delaying

TIHA-B will most likely be equipped with Cirits (like DAGR) and Umtas ATGM.

TIHA-B raining down Cirits :)
Mark Sien
I imagine TIHA-B can also be equipped with a precision-guided bomb like JDAM, correct?

Yep, GBU-12 would be one of them.
