ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army is well prepared to counter terrorism, Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar told Dawn News on Friday.

The minister stressed the need to better control and monitor the Pak-Afghan border.

Confidence-building measures (CBMs) taken by both India and Pakistan had helped improve bilateral relations, Mukhtar said. The relations needed to be further strengthened for the benefit of both countries, he added.

He also underlined the need to build trust with India.

He said hassle-free cross-border movement and an increase in bilateral trade would bring the two countries closer. He also expressed hope that the Kashmir issue would be resolved.
