Commodore Zakaullah promoted as Rear Admiral

ISLAMABAD (APP): Commodore Muhammad Zakaullah has been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral with immediate effect, said a press release of Public Relations Directorate of Pakistan Navy.

Rear Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah joined Pakistan Navy in 1975 and was commissioned in June 1978 in Operations branch.

He has the distinction of being awarded Sword of Honour and the Chief of the Naval Staff Gold Medal. He has qualified Internal Principle Warfare officer course from United Kingdom.

During his career, he has served at various sea and shore billets which include Destroyers, Mine sweepers and other combat platforms. He has been the Executive Officer of PNS Babur and later Commanded Destroyer PNS Tippu Sultan.

He has also Commanded Destroyer Squadron of Pakistan Navy. On shore appointments, he served as, Naval Headquarters. He has also served as Defence Attache in Qatar.

He is a graduate of Royal Navel Staff College (UK) and National Defence University (Pakistan). He obtained MA (Defence Studies) degree from London University.

He is keen Yachtsman and has represented Pakistan at Numerous International events including 1984 Olympics and Asian Games of 1986 and 1990. He has won Gold medal at the Asian Games twice.

ln recognition of his meritorious services, he was awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military). He is also a recipient of President’s Award for Pride of Performance for outstanding performance in yachting.
