The Excise and Taxation Department (ETD), government of Sindh, will introduce computerised registration books for motor vehicles from May 16, a press release said on Thursday.
According to the release, the Provincial Minister for ETD, Mukesh Kumar Chawala said that 450 motorcycles, 250 cars and about 70 commercial vehicles are daily registered in the city. Given the slow pace of work in registering these vehicles, new computerised registration books will be introduced in a ceremony to be held at his office on May 16.
In this connection, the ETD Sindh and Pakistan Security Printing Corporation (PSPC) signed a three-year agreement by which the latter will print computerised motor registration books containing owner news and other details against past practice. It also said that, in these books, the name and particulars of vehicle owners will be pre-printed, which will help cut down forgeries and other irregularities in the registration books. However, the fees of registration will remain unchanged.
