ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani said on Wednesday that the Army would spare no effort in defending the country and was fully prepared to meet the current and the emerging external and internal threats with the nation's support.
Addressing officers of the Rawalpini Garrison, General Kayani said that training and professional pursuits must remain in prime focus to enhance operational preparedness. He said that enhanced operational preparedness would help attain the highest standards of capability at all levels.
General Kayani, since taking over the command of the Army, has been focusing on de-induction of military personnel in civil administration and de-politicisation, besides taking several measures to have full support of the nation.
He has already declared this year as the "Year of the Soldier" in the context of social welfare of the soldiers and providing them many facilities. General Kayani highlighted some of the measures that have been initiated to make the functioning of the Army more efficient and responsive. Corps Commander Rawalpindi was also present during the address.
