Since the removal of CJ, to the elections, and until now, it's been a good 8 months.
Do we need to complete an entire year before we realize that it was us who destroyed Pakistan, and not the government.

What has happened has happened, we can't undo it, but we certainly can put it behind us and move forward.
Whoever was at fault, PSM still belongs to Pakistan, Musharraf is the president, Gillani is the PM, PPP is the Government, Karachi has been developed, MQM does work hard, judiciary (even witout the un-PCO judges) is currently independent, and our economy is going down the drain, as we breathe.

Not everyone can be satisfied with all policies of the government all the time, and ultimately another round of unrest, re-elections, wastage of reserves, and the new government will inherit a mixed bag of good and bad programmes from the past regime.

However to carry the process of democracy further, the new rulers must not only recognise that they are no longer in the opposition and now represent the country, but they must also realise that finding faults with past governmental actions, entering into blame games and scoring political points in public, particularly by government ministers (and more so when no solutions are put forward) can have dangerous consequences.

It is widely believed, for example, that ex-Finance Minister Ishaq Dar's accusation that Shaukat Aziz's government is responsible for "figure fudging", "ruining economy" and "creating a mess on the economic front" has had the immediate effect of Pakistan's economic ratings being revised and may have resulted in the recent poor performance of stock markets and drastic fall in rupee value. It certainly has added to the prevailing uncertainty.

What Mr Dar didn't realize unfortunately while making such statements is that the world will not look at him as member of PML-N only but as the minister in charge of Pakistan's finances. It may be true that the economic situation in Pakistan is alarming and the macro economic projections need to be revised. But that is not the point. The issue is that as a result of an irresponsible statement there may have been serious repercussions for Pakistan.

The government in power must not only govern but must be seen to govern properly.
People have chosen the new government not to settle old scores only but to introduce schemes to stop the decline.

Pakistani's need to reconcile to progess into the 2010's

It's not going to happen, it should but it won't.

This government will ruin the country with revenge politics whilst the military stands by and watches.

Wont happen.

Just watch our country sinking into flood of crisis and become a failed state. I hope I am wrong.

Honestly, I hate the word 'failed state'. The Pakistani economy is too large and too complex to just sink into the sands. The documented economy itself is only a fraction of what the actual economy is. Majority of the money that flows in and through Pakistan is never documented and thus never recorded as part of the GDP. My guess would be that around 10% of the economy is actually documented, the rest, remains part of the so called 'black market'. (For example: you go and buy food from a vendor on a street, is that sale documented or taxed on?? No.)

Back on topic though: Reconciliation is the best option, but knowing Pakistani politics, I hardly doubt it will happen. A very possible, and quite simple solution might be to just remove NS from the picture. That would stabilize things, for some time at least.

Well the only way this govt is not going to impeach President Musharraf is if he agrees to tow thier line or if this govt realizes that it will harm their interest if they impeach him. Now we all know that President Musharraf will never become their partner in loot mar. And right now it is in this govts interest to impeach him because of that reason that he will not allow them to start looting. SO there might be some sort of process started soon on impeachment but the govt will be careful and see how is evryone's reation to it. The military is very quiet and right now know one knows what will Gen. Kiyani do. Also, there have been talks that Makhdoom Amin Fahim and his supporters are against impeaching the President. So this govt might change its mind and not impeach as it will be against its interest to start a fight in its ranks. But than ganja's party will start a hue and cry drama and the situation will get worse.
