RAWALPINDI: Armed forces of Pakistan are well prepared to face challenges of contemporary times and ready to defend the country against external and internal threats.
These remarks were made by Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (JCSC) Chairman General Tariq Majid while addressing the participants of National Security Workshop-8, here at Joint Staff Headquarters on Wednesday, says an ISPR press release.
He further emphasised that our nuclear assets are safe under an effective command and control structure.National Security Workshop delegates visited Joint Staff Headquarters where they were given a briefing by Major General Asif Yasin, director general joint intelligence and information operations on 'Pakistan's Security Challenges'. Later, they were also briefed by Strategic Plans Division (SPD) Director General Lieutenant General (rtd) Khalid Ahmad Kidwai on SPD's role in development and safeguarding Pakistan's nuclear assets.
National Security Workshop comprises top professionals from different facets of national life like policy makers, ambassadors, senior military commanders, lawyers, businessmen, industrialists and media personnel; who gather under the aegis of National Defence University (NDU), Islamabad to analyse national security aspects and give useful contributions basing on their professional expertise.
Meanwhile, the participants of National Security Workshop visited General Headquarters. During the visit, participants were given a briefing on 'Pakistan Army, Challenges and Response' by Major General Ahmed Shuja Pasha, director general of Military Operations.
It may be mentioned here that the National Security Workshop has been organised by the NDU to study the national security perspective, concepts, policies and strategies in today's globalised world. The purpose of workshop is to make the participants aware of the elements, which constitute national power. The workshop will examine the evolution of strategic thought, geo-political concepts and geo-strategic determents. It will also cover aspects of geo-political leadership and decision making to assist policy makers in making well informed choices.
