I would have had posted this in the general images/vides forum. However, i don't think that this is a general video or image.

It is a critical statement from one of the greatest men in the world and certainly the greatest man in Pakistan!

LAHORE - Abdul Sattar Edhi Wednesday reached Lahore and launched his charity campaign to provide food for the poor all over the country. He started his ‘Bheek’ mission from The Mall Road.

Earlier, addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club, Abdul Sattar Edhi said the foundation had started its drive across the country and in this regard he had visited Balochistan and NWFP where people who were mostly poor and labourer gave him a warm welcome by taking part in the charity campaign.

Edhi said that before his visit to Balochistan and NWFP some people warned him about life threats saying that he would be robbed of his money in the said areas but he told these people that nothing would happen to him because Mulla Umar was his close friend as he had spent more than three years in Afghanistan in his company.

Contrary to the life threats, he said, the people of Balochistan and NWFP had donated hansom money to make the campaign successful.

The basic purpose to collect charity was to help the poor people by providing them free food and medicine at around 325 Edhi centres set up across the country, he said.

“It is purely a ‘Bheek’ mission started only to get rid of poverty”, he said adding that he hoped the masses would support the charity campaign and make it more successful.

He said international donors had invited him to start the said charity programme at international level but he refused in the larger interests of the Pakistani nation.

To a query, he said that deposed judges were struggling for their jobs instead of noble cause of restoration of judiciary. He said that the lawyers’ movement was causing troubles for the poor, as they have no concern with the problems of the masses. The movement of the lawyers was going on wrong directions, Abdul Sattar Edhi said. He hailed the role of President Musharraf saying that he (President) had given him a cheque of Rs. 100,000 from his pocket for food as well as medicines.

To another question, Abdul Sattar Edhi said that all the politicians had no sympathy with the poor people of the country, as major focus of their political activities was their own benefits. He claimed that Imran Khan and former ISI chief Lt Gen ® Hameed Gul met him and asked him that they wanted to make him the President of Pakistan but he flatly refused the both.

Abdul Sattar Edhi denied the allegations of providing weapons to the woman of Lebanon to be used against Israel saying that it was a conspiracy of the Jews.

To another query he said that the foundation would not ask the landlords and wealthy people for donation as they were enemies of the country and also the poor people.

Replying a question, Mr Edhi said that he would not meet Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif during his stay in Lahore.
Giving schedule of his drive in the province as well as in Lahore, Abdul Sattar Edhi said that he would invite the people for charity by standing on main roads of the cities.

He later went to the Mall Road, Liberty and other parts of the city to collect donation from the people and spent some hours there.

Edhi is a man that has to be respected.

He serves the people.

Well, I don't think so as Edhi has Very Openly said: "Musharraf is a good Guy". (in this same speech).

Well since he refused the post of the Presidency, I believe than he should ge the one to get it. Only a man who does not want to be the President will be faithful to Pakistan. And Edhi saab is a legend among legend. There will not be anyone more kind-hearted soul working to alleviate the sufferings of the poor and sick people. May Allah give him good health.Ameen.

I am frankly very desperate to see a light. but more i want it, more it is escaping me. Looking into the situation of common man, I doubt we will ever go through a sweet change. I totally see martial law coming in two years or economical, moral bankruptcy. I'm sorry. our leaders are already morally bankrupt, but economical bankruptcy is on the way. You're not the only one my brother. I too am going through a severe depression. I didn't even go to work today (I'm in America) because if I did I'd probably beat living crap out of some white dude because his government constantly meddles in our affair. But here is my advice to you. JOIN ME!!! You, me and all the ones on this forum who love our our pure religion and our pure country, we MUST join together, start a movement of our own, a socio-political and economic and cultural movement that will revolutionize this nation. I am willing to give up everything and do this. I just don't have a team that can join me. WE must combine our talents and our intellect and every possible resource we have at our disposal. Agar kamiyabi ho gayee to Alhamdulillah. Aur agar jaan chali gayee Shahadat ka darja milay ga. It is a win win situation. I agree with Zaid Hamid that Allah runs and protects this nation. We have to become Allah's zariyah.

I have a gutt feeling that Musharraf aint done yet. Folks, please remember, he IS a soldier. There IS something called a tactical retreat. Please recall back in 1995 (I believe) when even though the supreme court had restored nawazo's government after Ishaq Khan dissolved it, nawazo STILL resigned saying that he is doing so for the greater good of the country. The result was that in the 1998 elections, his party came back with overwhelming majority because of the respect that people had developed for him (that respect has gone down the toilet now but that's a different story). Now mind you, if a lame brained retard like nawazo was able to pull that off, its entirely possible that Musharraf may make a rebound as a full time politician as opposed to a retired General turned President. Recall what he said towards the end of his speech followed by his signature gesture of showing both fists; mujhay Pakistan say Ishq hay aur hamaysha rahay ga. This is a subliminal message that he's not done yet; not by a long shot!!!

Sometimes i do feel that this nation does not deserve good people at all it will only harm the feeling of those people. Sometimes i feel that we have become like the thankless Israelites who complained about every thing they could find and only wanted benefits they did not want to work or change. Why put a good man through all this for the ingrates may Allah provide courage to good people to lead this nation and the strength to face humiliation.

Just heard on ARY that PML-Q is in a meeting with Musharraf as we speak. As per the reporter, they maybe trying to convince him to take the leadership of PML-Q. So what I said may not be a far fetched RAMBO re-run after all. And kilo19, SHEEEEAAT AAAAAAAAAP!!! ;-p

Edhi has no business in giving out political statements against the lawyers or anyone. He's a noble and patriotic man. Edhi should remain neutral considering the sensitive nature of his work. That's my opinion.

Actually for his safety & the betterment of Pakistani people Edhi should stay quite. But he has the right for an opinion because he & Hakeem Saeed were slated to be part of the NSC (National Security Council) which of course our elected leaders never want and in the time of NS Hakeem Saeed got killed through MQM personnel. After the killing NS got MQM blamed and banned, now this is what we call an excellent political manouvering.

At that time Edhi had to run away to USA to avoid getting killed like Hakim Saeed.

EDHI is the only hope for poor Pakistanis. Please don't precipitate him in politics. Just donate him as much as you can. Politics is a filthy game here in Pakistan.
